The best thing we can do, is write letters to the stores that sell them to let them know our dissatisfaction. The more people that complain, the more likely the stores and famers will take us seriously. It's so irritating!TJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07481538408419414955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9033465662037447681.post-4400107316150658192014-06-24T13:21:08.151+10:002014-06-24T13:21:08.151+10:00I am a member of sharing websites but have yet to ...I am a member of sharing websites but have yet to find someone in the area that has a sewing machine. Grabbing a second hand or free sewing machine would be ideal and worth the investment. Sewing is a great skill to have! You could probably pick up a second hand sewing machine for cheap, or maybe see if there is something similar to a Men's Shed (but with sewing machines?) in your area. I would also recommend jersey/old t-shirts as you generally don't have to finish the seams to prevent fraying (although probably not a big concern with fruit and veg bags!). I finish my seams with a zig zag stitch as I don't have an overlocker and it does a good job.
Remember that you have to start somewhere and these bags are a very good place to start as they are all straight lines.
Also, you can upcycle clothing for baby leggings (t-shirts), skirts, dresses and shorts from adult clothing. Not to mention refashioning large mens clothing into clothing for yourself. Sewing blogs and youtube are a great place to increase your skills.
