As I'm professional I can understand it better because I need to manage both my official work as well as an event sometimes if its responsibility came upon me. So, to easier the task I simply go for event hire !
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03387545136291531139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9033465662037447681.post-64406746367242155502016-01-27T20:18:52.298+11:002016-01-27T20:18:52.298+11:00I think I have around 30 all in different size jar...I think I have around 30 all in different size jars. My dream would be to have everyone bring a plate of something and then pin their recipe up on a wall, so people can copy it. However, we can’t do that…there are certain things some people expect us to do. It’s funny you said the ASRC, they are our top pick. I have a eucalyptus themed invite, so I might steal the idea of the gum leaves. I still have a few pens that should work well for that. That will save a lot of paper. Our ceremony will be 5mins from the train station and the reception will be 2 mins too away from the station too. We are not sure if we will get a bus to shuttle everyone between the two. They are on the same train line…my only concern is the weather as it will be late May. Not sure about photos being printed yet. I probably won’t but the boy might. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Wow! Good on you for going for a ...Congratulations! Wow! Good on you for going for a plastic free wedding! Ours wasn't plastic free but we tried to be a bit Eco. We had 130 guests - we asked everyone to bring a plate of food to share, I picked lots of rosemary from our garden to place in the middle of the tables around home made soy candles - I still have some if you'd like them. I also picked some gum leaves to write ppl's names on which looked great but I think the pens we used were plastic. We hired a hall, a bush band, second hand crockery and a small catering group to help with packing food away and the clean up. Then we had lots of interstate ppl staying at our house after the wedding so we used the left overs to feed our guests for the next couple of days. If I had my time over I would hire the ASRC or similar group to cater because I didn't really think about other ppl's use of glad wrap, plastic etc. so bring a plate wasn't as Eco as we would have liked it to be but very tasty. The other factor we looked at was proximity to a train station and because we booked a venue close to a train station lots of ppl used it instead of driving which was great. Just curious- are you going to have photos printed? We printed photos as thank you cards but in retrospect it wasn't a very Eco option. Good luck with it! There will be close to 50 + people who don't know our way of living. We have already decided on no straws and no soft drinks. We had a mismatch of vintage plates that I had collected from op-shops over 6 months, then I passed them onto another friend who was getting married the following year. MC's announced to guests to "hold onto your cutlery and glasses" to help reduce unnecessary washing. I asked guests to bring a posy of flowers- preferably from their gardens- and had glass jars pre-set on the tables filled with water, in which guests placed their flowers in. As we had most of our guests stay over (wedding was on a farm in trafalgar and guests camped), I gifted as many posies home the next day :) Ange O'Brienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16862762888365228334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9033465662037447681.post-49228591903138341282016-01-19T08:36:17.481+11:002016-01-19T08:36:17.481+11:00How exciting Erin. It is common for couples to ask for a financial contribution to their honeymoon/household 'stuff' etc. Direct deposit unto their bank account, no packaging required! People will also want to give you cards. And i also got given lots of little trinkety things like horseshoes etc. Table decorations is another thing! Easy ideas are backyard flowers in jam jars or succulents in cute pots you could let your guests take home. We did all the food ourselves and then invited people back the following day for breakfast to use up the leftover food. Worked great! Then we either borrowed, made or bought secondhand everything else. We had 70 people at ours in a bush setting and kept everything simple. I hand made a lot of stuff and looked for a second hand dress but in the end I fell in love with something new on a manikin. It was so cheap I had to get it. The day was just right for us. I think you are right about the food waste being the biggest problem, but I'm sure you will find a good solution. My...Hoping I can see you present at SLF this year!

My best piece of advice is to have a wedding planner to deal with issues on the day, but as you've already organised that I think you're winning! For our wedding, we had a clearly signed container for food scraps. We'd spoken to several guests before the day who were happy to take a portion home to their own compost bins when they left. Perhaps that will work for you also?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
